21. IM ADDING AN EXTRA QUESTION (The I in this question is not me) if you have OCs who is your favorite and why?
shit uhhhh I have a top 3.
Generally my no.1 is (drum roll)
Izel. (No one is surprised) Izel has always visually been very enjoyable to draw. His fashion/aesthetic/color scheme is just one that I gravitate towards in terms of personal appeal. Then his personality lends himself to a sort of... personal growth/ character arc that I invest myself in? Writing his complete obliviousness and literal mindset can be fun and amusing- and he has a speech mannerism that I don't really have to think about? Idk he's pretty and gay I love him
My other two for my top three are Asuka and John- I don't particularly have one over another. Sometimes they outrank Izel depending on my mood but Izel is my overall consistent no.1
For Asuka-- I like witty characters so he's fun to write. He also is a vessel where I get to actually use my Real Life Knowledge On Musical Shit and make references since he's a theatre geek. He's another character where his arc/ growth has emotional investment from me as well. Aesthetically I get to throw him in scarves which I like- and I like inking black hair hrnghg. There's also a lot of fond memories attached to Asuka because he was part of one of my longest RP-born friendships :,) <3 (even tho she doesn't RP anymore...)
For John- he's a baby compared to Asuka and Izel even tho I made him a few years ago haha. John is one of my favorites sheerly cuz he's just.... so so enjoyable for me to RP. His dialog is extremely natural train-of-thought and he's such a genuine and human character that accidentally grabbed me by the heart. He makes me laugh when i'm writing him- and I've gotten a lot of compliments in how he amuses other people and he just ToT <3. His aesthetic is so not my style in contrast to the other two haha! But I love this idiot a lot.

Life Update + Tag

Hey guys, its been a while and I hope everything is going well even to those of you who I haven't talked to for quite some time!
Apparently I haven't written a journal in over a year? Wild.
So for those of you who don't know, I got accepted to my dream school last year and this previous September started my Freshman year as an Art major! Woo! First semester wrapped up back in December and April marked the end of the second semester. It was rough, not gonna lie. My school has a reputation for being rigorous and difficult and they certainly weren't kidding. On top of that I had a lot of existing mental and medical issues giving me grief and the year was rough. Yeah.
But I learned a lot at school! the first year is entirely traditional art, so I'm looking forward to finally getting to move to digital starting next semester. The teachers at school really make the entire experience for me. Like I'll be honest, I don't really dislike the students around me, but I guess I just don't connect to them? But my painting teacher first semester really made me want to not give up and fail. I never graduated highschool because I get stuck in my own head and get so neurotic over being a disappointment that I isolate myself. But my painting teacher, even when he was harsh on grading me and ended up with me having to redo several assignments entirely, he was always so nice and encouraging. I always feel like I'm a liar, but at the end of the semester he congratulated me for making it through telling me that I "fought like a dog" and I almost cried.
The final assignment for that class was a still life of our own construction, and seeing other people's technically more ambitious work made me feel pretty shitty about my more conceptual piece. The teacher had talked about different still lifes in the lecture week where he assigned it, though. He talked about one series in particular he did around Hamlet and portraying Ophelia as a broken/shattered glass bottle due to the tragedy of her character. So I thought a lot about symbolism I guess. I don't have the image handy of my final piece, but it had a syringe needle standing directly opposite a bright pink highlighter. Between the two, there was a picture frame with no backing, and a highlighter identical to the pink one, but blue, stood center.
I've been doing testosterone injections since August, and the syringe has become an important object to me. It was a piece about that imposing pink me, that syringe, and the framed blue ideal of being male. My objects were incredibly simple, and seeing other students who had taken things with gloss, fabric, and other complications scared me that I had really fucked up in my approach, but my teacher really liked it. He ended up showing me a series he did that my piece reminded him of- and it was a really positive interaction. He's an incredible guy.
I struggled first semester, but second semester was even harder on me. 18 credits of all art courses was a ton of work (and that's following their recommended course sequence, mind you) and a major part of what had helped inspire and pushed me to be successful first semester kind of disappeared. At the end of October I started dating a guy a grade above me that I really got along with and liked a lot. His work load for school was intense, so I can't fault him too much for him, but communication kind of died between him and I and in general I had a lot of shitty feelings over it. We're technically still together, I guess, but I imagine when we see eachother next month we'll be over officially I guess. I still keep wondering what I must have done to ruin one of the best things in my life, but oh well.
Anyway. Second semester was even harder, but unlike first semester I finally got to draw people and more interesting things than geometric primitives, so yay! My figure drawing teacher was really nice and I enjoyed every class with him- and I was one of the better figure drawers in my class section which helped my feelings of crippling inadequacy. I got to do a couple small group projects, and one of my classmates from them ended up moving into the same apartment complex as me coincidentally, so I managed to make it out of the school year with one person I can call my friend at least. I ended up getting interviewed and awarded a pretty nice scholarship from an organization I applied to- and managed to pass a class I had no faith in passing. I failed one class, but I'll make up for it.
I've already typed a lot at this point so I think I can leave it there? I'm glad to finally get to be back in the RP scene again and have time to draw things I enjoy. Sorry if I've been distant/out of touch. if you don't have my discord and want it or whatever ask me about it I guess? Anyway lol I'll move onto the tag now

FIRST SEMESTER DONE! + Tags

Heyo! Don't know if I mentioned it to everyone here but I got in Digipen's art program this part year and just wrapped up my first semester this past week! As a result I kind of have dropped off the face of the earth in terms of personal art, but I hope to get a little better about drawing outside of schoolwork from now on haha. I miss being active and RPing with you folks!

Hmmm-- probably a mix of Izel and John ahaha but I put a bit of myself into all of my OCs.

Uhhh I usually just open clip studio or my sketchbook and see what happens- sometimes I'll come up with a specific exchange of dialogue I find amusing and creat something around that specifically but it's rare for me to go into a drawing with a plan of what it's actually gonna look like... which is something in school I gotta do less actually :,/
7. If you could rewrite one movie or book, what would it be and how would you change it?
I would rewrite Persona 4 (a video game but close enough) and make Kanji and Naoto's writing Not Bad
8. Favorite region for mythos?
They're all pretty fun- I guess I know Greek stuff the best so Greece?

- He despises skinny jeans/ tight pants with a passion. His legs are thin enough without him broadcasting it to the world also who the fuck wants to feel that attached to their clothing anyway he doesn't get it.
- The majority of his food aversion stems from childhood bullying at school. The school system works in a way which discourages food waste/ picky eating and his classmates would regularly screw up his lunches and mix food together, etc. He forced it down to avoid speaking up to the teacher and avoid getting in trouble for wasting food, but nowadays there are a lot of textures and flavor combinations that trigger him and make him feel sick as a result.
- He's taller than his dad but shorter than his little brother lol.
- Has a thing for blonde hair. It's pretty, ok.
- One of his pet peeves is being mistaken for an ethnicity other than his own.
- Enjoys drinking but doesn't like hard alcohol. His preferred beverage is wine.
- The characters for his name are 明日香 which is 明日-tomorrow and 香-perfume. 神代 put together would roughly mean 'era of the gods' or something.
- Got a nasty scar on his wrist from when he tried to commit suicide when he was younger. Very mindful/self conscious about keeping it covered. (In outfits that reveal his lower arms in BA he's always using a charm on his arm to hide his scars.)

1. I first started RPing in DA groups close to 6 years ago! I was RPing on forums on various websites for a few years before that, too, though.
2. I'm Asexual + Aromantic but find the concept of sexual/romantic attraction both amusing and interesting.
3. The first Japanese character I learned to write was 動 (From the "Douga" in Nico Nico Douga)
4. My favorite comic as of now is "Juju's Diary" by boxhead studio. I liked it so much I named my cat, Choco, after it.
5. I get terrible terrible car sickness and absolutely hate riding in cars in general.
6. I love sitcoms....
7. noeldragon is a dickbutt and won't stop buying me Hello Kitty stuff so I have tons of random Hello Kitty things.
8. My favorite video game type is turn based tactical/ strategy games.
9. The next place I want to travel to is Taiwan!
10. The art style of most American cartoons bothers me too much to watch and enjoy any of them.
